This contribution discusses whether the GATS should incorporate advanced instruments of services liberalisations, such as recognition, standardisation and harmonization. It places the analysis into the framework of the current crisis of the GATS/WTO system and argues that an appropriate reaction to this crisis would not include such proposals, because they would put too great of a burden on national regulatory autonomy. |
